Jayaparvati Vrat is observed in Ashada Maas by unmarried girls and married women in Gujarat and some other Western India parts. This vrat is observed for five days for 5, 7, 9, or maybe even 11 years. It is enjoyable when you have a friend doing this with you. Boys never do any vrats except for ekadashi because they are not strong enough to control their hunger while girls are. Jayaparvati Vrat katha or the story or legend of Jaya parvati vrat is associated with a Brahmin woman who observed this vrat to get her husband free from his curse(was not really a curse). The divine couple Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati is worshipped during this Vrat. Gujarati's also worship Goddess Gauri in Ashadh Maas as Gauri Vrat. ==Story== Once upon a time, there was a very generous and devoted couple, but they never had a child. One day the.husband told his wife to go a donation to the saint. She did so and ironically was cursed that she would never be able to beget a child. The wife pleaded for forgiveness and the saint felt pity and told her to send her husband to do tapasya or penance to Parvati mata. The next day the husband find so and 3 days later he was blessed by her darshan or sight. Parvati mata told him that either he can have son who will die on his 19th birthday or a daughter who will become a widow on the of her wedding(once a woman becomes a widow, at that time, she has to become sati or commit suicide by jumping in to a fire pit). After some thinking he asked for a son. nine months later his wife gave birth to a boy and was named shamboo. When he was 17, his uncle took him on a trip where they met shanta and the uncle found out that shanta did the gauri vrat so they were soon married after the consent of their parents.mon the night of her wedding, shanta is warned in a dream by Gauri ma that a poisonous snake will bite her husband, and to prevent that shanta has to keep two cups out in which one is filled with milk mixed with sugar and the other is empty. The snake will come and first drink the sweet milk and when he calms down he will sit in the other cup. Then she should cover the cup with the edge of her sari and in the morning, and give it to her mother in law where she will set it free. Shanta wakes up and does what she is told, knowing that the goddess must be impressed with her devotion. In the morning she tells her family everything and till this day she is praised for her devotion and faith of gauri ma. Hence, Jaya Parvati vrat is observed keeping in mind this story of a courageous and devoted wife who saved her husband from his death! 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Jaya Parvati vrat」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
